There is no accumulation of testosterone during continuous treatment. Following ANDRODERM application, testosterone is continuously absorbed during the 24-hour dosing period with a median (range) Tmax of 8 (4-12) hours. The administration of exogenous testosteronehas been reported to suppress spermatogenesis in the rat, dog and non-humanprimates, which was reversible on cessation of the treatment. Changes in serum lipid profile may require dose adjustment ordiscontinuation of testosterone therapy. Long-termtherapy with intramuscular testosterone enanthate has produced multiple hepaticadenomas. An increase in red blood cell mass may increase therisk of thromboembolic events. Discontinue testosterone therapy if the hematocrit becomeselevated. Discard systems in household trash in a manner that preventsaccidental application or ingestion by children, pets or others. The drug reservoir may be burst by excessivepressure or heat. A locked cupboard at least one-and-a-half metres above the ground is a good place to store medicines. Heat and dampness can destroy some medicines. Do not store Androderm®or any other medicine in the bathroom or near a sink. Some of these side effects (for example a reduction in the number of sperm produced or high blood pressure) can only be found when your doctor does tests from time to time to check your progress. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you notice anything else that is making you fell unwell. Do not heat the patch or press the reservoir too hard. Strenuous exercise or excessive perspiration may loosen the patch or cause it to fall off. Contact with water such as showering or swimming, should not affect the patch. Do not give your medicine to anyone else, even if they have the same condition as you. Because Androderm® contains aluminium, it is recommended that you remove the patch before undergoing MRI. A special MedGuide will be given to you by the pharmacist with each prescription and refill. Excessive sweating or strenuous exercise might cause the patch to loosen or fall off. The patch may be worn during sex, showering, or swimming. Do not apply to the genitals or scrotum. Do not apply to a bony area like the hip or shoulder or an area that might receive a lot of pressure while sitting or sleeping. Apply to a clean, dry area of intact skin on the back, abdomen, upper arms, or thighs. Remove the protective liner and silver disk from the patch. There is suggestive evidence that injection oftestosterone into some strains of female mice increases their susceptibility to hepatoma. Regularmonitoring of serum calcium concentrations is recommended in these patients. Gynecomastia may develop and persist in patients being treated withandrogens, including ANDRODERM, for hypogonadism. Edema, with or without congestive heart failure, may be a seriouscomplication in patients with preexisting cardiac, renal, or hepatic disease seeADVERSE REACTIONS. The sites of application should berotated, with an interval of 7 days between applications to the same site. To ensure proper dosing, approximately 2 weeks afterswitching therapy, the early morning serum testosterone concentration should bemeasured following system application the previous evening.
